We paid the Passport America discount rate. This is a small but well-managed park with pleasant and helpful owners. For those sensitive to road noise, this may not be the best choice, as it's within 100 yards of the interstate. For us, it is an ideal overnight stop.

Friendly, courteous staff. Lower-level sites assigned to overnighters were easily accessible and level. Those higher on the hill appeared to be less so. The interstate is about 1/4 mile away, and those sensitive to road noise may find it annoying (not us).

We paid the Good Sam discount rate. This is a clean and well-kept but not outstanding park mostly used by overnighters from Interstates 77 and 81. We have used it several times over the years, and gladly return.

We paid the Passport America discount daily rate (for which the minimum stay is 7 days - and there is no maximum period on the rate). This suburban Port Richey "travel park" is an older facility that is still owned and managed by its founding family. The hospitality, modernization, and upkeep is top notch. About 65% of the park residents are seasonal. This is basically an adult park (but children as visitors and/or overnighters are welcome). It is a great place in which to settle to savor the Tampa/Tarpon Springs/Clearwater area attractions.

Our rate included the AARP discount. Once again, convenient large sites with full hookups in a well-maintained but well-worn park. There was no faint odor of the sewer plant on this visit. It remains a bargain stop at a location which makes it almost too convenient to pass by.

We paid the Good Sam discount rate. This is a nice campground that is beginning to slip downward. Pro: The sites are generously shaded by mature trees, and all hookups are in working order. The teen-age girl running the office was polite and competent, and showed us to our site. Con: Many of the sites need a new layer of gravel, as does the inner camp drive. The existing stones have begun to sink into the dust and mud. Two of the 3 washers in the laundry were is service, but both groaned so noisily that one feared they couldn't finish their loads. The laundry was covered with lint and dust, and fixtures and picnic tables throughout the park show signs of recent neglect. A plumbing firm was based in a small building at the rear of the park. It seemed as though the adults were having the children run the park. They were trying, but adult park maintenance support was needed .

We paid the Good Sam discount rate for full hookups. This is a most unusual campground. One reaches it by driving up a road over the West Memphis protective levee to an area on the low bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. From those campsites (or from the bluff-edge benches provided) one can watch barge traffic being pushed up or down the river throughout the day. The river view campsites are all pull-through with full hookups, were well-graveled, but were treeless. The campground staff was hospitable and good humored. We consider this a great place to simply kick back and relax.

We paid the Good Same rate for full hookups. This is an all gravel campground in Colorado's high desert area which has, however, a very well maintained green grassy "park" area. There are fence rows between campsites. All sites have a magnificent view of the mountains. Everything is clean and very well maintained. Staff are courteous. Although there is no pool, there is a "fountain of fun" area for children.

We paid the Passport America rate for full hookups. This is a small campground that is clean, quiet, and cared for. This is a basic park with pleasant, enthusiastic owners. It is a good overnight park that could use an application of more gravel to the sites. We would happily return.

We paid the Good Sam discount rate for full hookups. This a small and exceptionally neat RV park. Staff are cheerful. Virtually all sites are shaded by large, mature trees, and the size of the sites varies. We noted that site assignments were carefully made to reflect the size (and presence or absence of slides) of each RV. Virtually the entire park are is graveled, and contrasting colors of gravel are used to define the road and site areas. Fishing (without license) is available in the lake at the edge of the campground.

We paid the Good Sam rate for full hookups. This is a clean but worn, older park with generously sized sites and friendly staff. This is a decent place and rate for an overnight stop.

The price cited was the Good Sam rate. This is a quiet, extremely well maintained campground with pleasant, helpful staff. Among other features, it has an antique shop in its main building! Although we used this as an overnight stop, we could comfortably spend much more time at this location.

We paid the Good Sam discounted rate. This campground is well within the outskirts of the city. It has friendly staff and generous-sized pull-through sites which are level and well-graveled. A computer is available in the office for camper use without charge, as is free coffee. We would gladly return.

We paid the Good Sam discounted rate. The campground has large sites and trees. The cable TV hookup is wired only to every other campsite (see later comment). It has an indoor pool, and complimentary newspapers and coffee, and free muffins from 7:30-9 AM. When entering the office, we waited over 5 minutes for someone to appear. The staffer was polite but visibly unmotivated when signing us in. He neglected to tell us that we'd been put on a site with no cable (and had no cables to loan to reach an adjoining site). We also noted that at the bottom of the receipt we received was a statement reading, "WARNING: THIS PARK SUBJECT TO FLASH FLOODING." As there was a "dry" forecast for the next 24 hours, we decided to stay. We would have rated the campground a 9 if the customer service had equaled the facilities.

We paid the Passport America rate. This park has efficient, pleasant staff. The sites are huge and well maintained. All hookups were convenient and in working order. There is convenient access to/from the park to Interstate 40.

We paid the Passport America rate for full hookups. This is the fourth time in six years we've stopped at this campground. A great deal of work has been accomplished in the past year, with upgrades to the buildings and facilities. The park staff was pleasant, and helped us back into the chosen campsite. We would comfortably return again.

Although full hookups were available, and some modest shade from trees between some sites, this is otherwise a desert no-frills campground. It is OK as a base camp for the Monument Valley/Four Corners area. It was clean, scenic, and quiet. The town has a population of 300, a gas station, 3 eateries, 2 Indian merchandise shops, and 2 multipurpose 7/11 type stores. Most are well-worn, and it would be best to restock before landing here. We were told that few camp here in July, but that August and September were "busy". We were the only campers in the park on the 2-night weekend.

We paid the Good Sam discount rate for full hookups. The campground was neatly maintained. All sites are pull-throughs with full hookups. The laundry was spotless, with very new machines in working order. The office staffer was polite and pleasant. About 50 percent of the RVs in the park appear to be present for an extended period. It represented a convenient overnight facility to us, and we would gladly use it again.

We paid the Passport America rate for full hookups. The park is two miles South of town. The campground has gravel at the larger sites, with grass and some shade trees at the smaller ones. There are no laundry facilities in the park. Staff are pleasant, and exceptionally helpful with advice regarding attractions and scenic drives in the area This is a basic campground, but is a bargain when it comes to features per dollar.

Pull through section appears to be for over nighters, and the rest of the park seems to be permanent/seasonal sites. The manager was friendly, and we were escorted to our assigned site. The park was litter-free. Interior roads were recently graveled, and site hookups were in good repair. This is a good overnight stop at the Passport America rate, and we would gladly return.

This park continues to upgrade itself each year. The location, sites, recreational facilities, and staff attitudes are all top drawer. If one wants to find some fault, one could suggest a few more washers & dryers. This is the type and level of park one continues to return to each year!

It is difficult to give too detailed a review, as numerous road delays caused us to arrive after office hours, and because we then departed at dawn the next morning before the office opened. Despite the campground's recorded message that the office would be open until 9 PM, we arrived at 8:30 to find the office closed and dark. However, there was a well lighted after hours registration desk outside the door. The honor system asked for personal and credit card information on the envelope which was to be submitted through a door slot. Unfortunately, there was no list of rates or charges. Nonetheless, we submitted the information, and called back via cell phone the next day to get the charge information. The park appeared neat and well-maintained, with many convenient pull-throughs and shaded sites. The charge shown included all taxes. We consider the KOA rate a bit stiff for the services, but if the situation were repeated would use the campground again.

The charge cited included use of a 15 percent-off coupon and all taxes. This campground is somewhat high-priced, but its' nearly ideal location on Interstate 95 makes it a irresistible stop for those travelling long distances north or southward. It is within several hundred yards of the highway, so some road noise filters into the park. We do not consider it to be bothersome. After an unsettled year, the new ownership has initiated upgrades to campground maintenance and personnel. We will gladly return again.

This small campground is extremely hospitable and well-maintained. Staff are upbeat and helpful. The park is virtually alongside Interstate 10, and there is a constant murmur of road noise. We did not find that bothersome, although some may object. The daily rate shown is the Passport America rate for full hookups, and included all taxes. While not a destination park for us, it is thoroughly pleasant and will remain on our itinerary when we travel this way again.

This is an ownership park with facilities to rent. It is a modern and extremely well-maintained campground. Laundry facilities were virtually new and spotless. The staff are courteous and responsive, and are clearly proud of the facility. Of special note is the small Cafe located just inside the park's gate. Open 6 days a week from 7 AM to 7 PM, it features good food and great coffee at very reasonable prices. The owner/waitress adds an upbeat note to each visit. The cost cited was the Passport America rate and all taxes for a full hookup site including cable TV. We will return.

When this park was built about 40 years ago it was way ahead of its time with its generous pull-through sites and full hookups. With the low rates charged (the listed rate credited an AARP discount) and location, it has been a consistent bargain location for overnight stops for us since the 1970s. Despite the increasingly tacky merchandise in the shops surrounding the campground, the park itself has been well maintained. The facilities are in decent repair, although the basic park has remained unchanged for many years. Unfortunately, upkeep efforts cannot overhaul the long-term decline of some systems. During our stay this time, a faint sewer odor kept wafting over the park. If we encounter this again, we may have to rethink our potential future use of the facility.

This is an older but greatly upgraded park, but many lot sizes have more constricted widths and lengths than newly-designed campgrounds. The Office, the 3 Laundry facilities and 2 Bath/shower buildings, and about one-third of the campsites appear to be new. There is a walk-through gate from the back of the park to the side lot of the Wal-Mart super center next door. We found the campground functionally quite good but visually less than appealing. Several campsites had very soft sand, which made entry and exit a cautious effort to avoid bogging down. Although we will gladly return, we would also inspect our assigned site for firmness before parking there. The price cited was the Passport America rate for a full hookup site with all taxes included.

The rate included a Good Sam discount. This is a pleasant and exceptionally well maintained small campground with mature trees and shade, and very level sites. Our campground host escorted us to the campsite, and took the time to make us aware of the park's recycling containers and other features. While not far from the highway, there was only a minimal level of road noise. We would gladly return again. (800) 689-8453

The price stated was for full hookups. This is an exceptionally neat and attractive, well laid-out park with nicely graveled sites and mature, healthy shade trees. The office is also a gift shop, but has no RV supplies. The staff is friendly. It is quite close to the highway, and road noise may bother some folks, but not us. The laundry is somewhat small (two washers and two dryers) for this size campground, which may result in a delay in accessing its use. There is a $2 per additional visitor to the campsite charge, with a maximum of four guests. We will gladly return if again in the area.

On our arrival, the campground still was showing signs of the Hurricane Ike winds the preceding day. While the staff was working at cleanup, branches still littered many sites and the blown-down entry sign couldn't be repaired until the electric company shut down the current. However, the electric power was on. This is a decent overnight park with a few negative "quirks". Overnight visitors must back up approximately 100 feet from the office to pull into an area which appears reserved for them (it was the same last year, too). The staff, while friendly and helpful with minor issues, appear unimaginative about possible improvements (such as making signs that have visitors stop about 100-150 feet from the office to avoid the troublesome backup process). The price cited included a Good Sam discount and taxes. This is a newer park with all pull-through sites. It was extremely neat and well cared for. The staff was pleasant and efficient. The bathrooms included handicapped showers and toilet stalls and a wheelchair-accessible sink. The only reason we didn't rate this campground a "10" was the lack of mature shade.

Ours was a single overnight visit while traveling. While far from physically ideal for overnights, this is an amazing campground basically directed to horse-campers, trail hikers, small boat fans, and family outings of more than one or two nights. For those uses, our scoring would be two steps higher. The facilities are rustic but well-maintained. The staff is friendly, helpful, and very concerned that one enjoys one's visit. Our stay was at the end of the season, and the campground was largely empty. We would have no hesitation about visiting again.

This is a quiet rural campground surrounded by farmland. Camp staff were pleasant and helpful. We used it as an overnight stop while touring Indian mounds in the area. It is definitely a family-oriented campground. There were many (basically happy) kids and their sounds on the grounds, although everyone respected the 11 PM to 7 AM quiet hours rule. The pull-through sites are on grass, and the underlying soil can be soft in wet weather. The price quoted is the nightly Passport America rate. We will gladly return if we are in the area again.

rating [ 10/10 ]
The campground was scenic and immaculate, the staff was eager to please, and the owners continue to upgrade the facilities. The score selected is a round-up from 9.5. Absolute perfection would have some more shade available, but the young trees will require about 10 years to reach that stage. The rate quoted included the Good Sam discount.

Our three nights here were an extremely pleasing experience. Staff are welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The entire park is scrupulously maintained....including the semi-permanent sites. With well-kept indoor and outdoor pools, lakes, adequate laundry and campground stores and almost 1/4 mile its own ocean beach, even we two senior citizens are convinced that this is a great destination park. The nightly rate we paid included an Internet special 20 percent discount.

We have stopped at this campground in most of the past 20 years. It has always been a premium but ideally located overnight stop along Interstate 95. Americamps at Ashland changed ownership last year. It is under lackluster new management. Staff acts pro forma polite but uninterested. Trash bags left at sites by the previous night's campers weren't collected until 4:30 PM...including the one we were assigned at 3:30 PM. The garage/maintenance area is now parked full of large commercial vehicles and campground scraps...not an attractive view. This has become pricey camping for no-longer-premium camping.

This is a new park. It is well laid out, and all sites are pull throughs. Grass, bushes, and trees have been newly planted and are struggling, but being cared for. A pool and clubhouse are proposed but not yet constructed. The campground was very clean, and staff were welcoming and helpful. The park has potential, and makes a fine overnight stop. We paid the Good Sam rate.

This park was a welcome surprise. Everything was neat and clean, and the concrete pads were surrounded by lush grass. The staff was pleasant and responsive. We felt the campground's Trailer Life Directory rating was much too low. We paid the Passport America rate for full hook-ups.

This park has been remade over the past few years. It has huge, open, shaded pull-through sites with a thick carpet of pine needles. The staff is pleasant. This fine overnight campground is just off Interstate 95. We paid the Good Sam rate for full hook-ups (but not the optional cable TV).
11/2007
rating [ 8/10 ]
This is an excellently designed and maintained campground. Primarily an overnight park for I-95 travelers, it is too convenient a location to ignore. Staff members are efficient. Large motor homes pulling bigger trailers will have to drop those in an adjacent parking area in order to fit pull-through site lengths. The rate we paid reflected a Good Sam discount and a $1-off Holiday Travel Park coupon.

This is a neatly kept place with spacious, shaded, and grassy sites. Originally a mobile home park, it is now purely an RV campground. The docks, marina, and swimming/scuba areas are nice features, and the staff are friendly. We liked it so much we extended our stay by a day. We paid the Passport America rate for full hook-ups, which was a great bargain for the Florida Keys!

This campground was ahead of its time when designed over two decades ago. Now, it is a worn, but well maintained and better-than-average overnight stop. The park is convenient and inexpensive. Our rate included the AARP discount & taxes for full hookups. We use this place every year.

This small campground is directly on US 1, and has a ocean fishing/boating dock directly across the road. It's a mostly laid-back place with a potential major "con" item. Railroad tracks (completely hidden by trees) run 200 feet behind the park. If railroad noises irritate, this may not be your best bet. On the other hand, it is extremely neat and very affordable. It makes a good base camp for the Cocoa Beach and Melbourne areas. We paid the Passport America rate for full hookups. We will gladly return.

This is an immaculately maintained mid-sized rural campground with great scenic views of the mountains from virtually every campsite. Located 2.8 miles from Luray, virtually all noise of civilization (the occasional faint drone of a truck in the distance can be noticed late at night). This park is an exception to the "rule" that all campgrounds must be within hearing of a railroad. It does have an Internet cafe in the office building (the rate was $2 for the 1st hour, and $1 for each hour thereafter). Were this not such an excellent place we'd consider the daily costs excessive. The rate cited was the Good Sam member rate including taxes.

This was a beautiful, recently expanded campground run by agreeable and helpful people. All park facilities were maintained at a high level. The recent expansion means that a minority of available sites have significant shade, as the new plantings will need 5 to 10 years to achieve significant size. We received our Escapees discount and paid $28 per day for full hookups, including all taxes.

This existing campground has been largely upgraded. All sites are wide and spacious pull-throughs. The staff is friendly. A large gas/diesel station by the entrance is also the park office. At the time of our visit, 3 of the 6 clothes dryers in the laundry were out of order, and an apology was posted. We paid the Passport America rate, but would have considered this campground a bargain at the full normal price.

This is an extremely well kept campground with spacious, level, well shaded sites. The park owner/operators were pleasant and helpful. The 70-channel cable TV hookup at each site is free. We paid the Good Sam discount rate for full hookups.

This is largely a "rally park". Blocks of 40' by 70' grass sites are divided by paved roads. Although there are few sites having picnic tables and no shade trees, this is by far the most convenient park to the Amana villages. Everything was well-maintained and in working order, and campground staff was friendly and helpful. We paid the Passport America rate for a water & electric hookup site.

This campground has wide, grassy, and well-shaded sites. The facilities and equipment were clean, well-kept, and in working order. Park staff were pleasant and responsive. We had looked forward to camping at this park, based on other reviews here, (and the TL rating). However, in mid-July we arrived, (without having made reservations), to find that it appeared to have been destroyed in a brushfire. The campground and surrounding countryside were still blackened by the fire...and it was closed.

This neatly kept campground is perched along the crest and on the top of a large hill. The pool, we were told, was a "salt-water pool". Although we supposedly paid the Passport America rate, we can't be sure. No daily rate structure was posted, and the staff member spouted a complex series of rates involving 30 & 50 amp electric service, pull-throughs, etc. We found it hard to believe we were on a $50 site.
07/2007

This is a well maintained but very bland campground. Most sites are gravel or asphalt, with a minimum amount of grass to be seen. It has an immaculate large indoor pool in an air-conditioned building, free cable, and friendly staff. We paid the Escapee rate.

This is an impeccable campground. The office staff is formidable on first meeting, though pleasant afterward. They will deliver phone messages to the sites. All sites and roads are asphalt-paved, and each site has an additional paved parking space. The park has a small picnic park with pavilion and pond. It also contains a huge recycling center which is well maintained. We paid the Good Sam rate, which included local taxes. There is a Wal-Mart within 2 miles.

This campground is located 75 yards behind a Super * motel, and shares access to a large swimming pool with the motel's guests. Many of the sites are pull-throughs, and at least partially shaded. This campground is neat, clean, staffed by courteous people. The streets are wide, and paved with concrete. The sites have concrete pads surrounded by well-watered grass. There is no camp store. This was a pleasant older KOA in its 3rd year of renewal by younger owners. The sites are wide, and some have side-by-side hookups. The restrooms were freshly painted and extremely clean. The entire park is in a grove of cottonwood trees on the edge of town. We paid the KOA discount rate, which included local taxes.

This was a virtually new campground. The park staff members were friendly, and the sites were gravel and level. In the office, there was also a computer available for internet use. There are 16 air-conditioned camping cabins. The only negative is the total absence of shade. It will take 15 years for the small trees to achieve any real size. We paid the Passport America rate, which included local taxes.

This campground is beside the Snake River. The sites are mostly tree-shaded and level. The park has no public telephone. Please note that only the tent sites are directly alongside the river. Although the park is pleasant, be warned that the bugs are fierce once darkness falls! We paid the Passport America rate.
07/2007
rating [ 6/10 ]
This is an older park with small sites which are very tight. There is virtually no place to park a tow vehicle adjacent to ones' trailer. The perimeter of the park is fenced, and one can not get to the river to "riverwalk." The park is visually unappealing, though the staff was friendly. We supposedly paid the Passport America rate, although we question whether they actually give a 50 percent discount. They do not post their daily rates.

The park is surprisingly well shaded. It's located in a grove of trees in the midst of featureless plains. The nightly rate was with Good Sam Discount, and included $2.55 in taxes. Campsites were a bit narrow at one end of the park, but were on concrete. We gave a high rating not only because of the physical attributes of the park, ut also due to the operating family's attitude and performance. During a tornado alert, they went to each RV and gathered everyone in the park into the basement of the office building until the threat had passed.

This was an extremely well-maintained park with pleasant staff, gravel roads, and a majority of tree-shaded sites. The tree-shaded sites are broad, but those with taller motorhomes and fifth-wheels should be cautious about limb clearances overhead. Park signs warn of high water pressure and recommend using a water pressure regulator. We paid the Good Sam rate, which included $2 in taxes.

We paid the Passport America rate. The sign-in staff member was irritating, telling another employee that here was "...another cheap set of campers." The campground itself was well worn but largely serviceable. The campground is subject to some blowing dust from the gravel roads and the eternal Kansas wind.

A very nice older park being upgraded by new owners. It is exceedingly convenient to reach, one edge of the campground being only 150 yards from I-10. Great campground with friendly, helpful staff. A good place to "kick back" and relax if one stays in the park, or as a base camp for highlight attractions in the Tampa/Sarasota area. Big and small rigs alike are made to feel welcome. Nicely equipped camp store. We stayed for a full week (getting the weekly rate). This is the 5th year we've stayed at Quail Run, and it just keeps getting better. We'll be back next year.

This is an older facility being updated. Exceedingly pleasant staff. Large, level, and open campsites. We paid the Good Sam discount rate. It is several hundred yards from I-95, and is quite convenient to reach. There was some road noise which didn't bother us (but might if one is very sensitive to road sound). We will gladly use the campground again.
